Atlanta allowed 4.86 runs per game last year. Will The Celtics, Cavs, or Lakers Win 72? Will the SuperSonics Win 10?

Using their season win percentages, you can found how often each team will win 72 or more (or 10 or less) games this year using a binomial distribution (Excel function: BINOMDIST). Here’s a nifty table that shows the possibilities of four teams and their probabilities of winning a various number of games. The most wins in a season is 72, and the least is nine.

Team Win_70+? Win_72+? Win_73+?
Boston Celtics 96.3% 87.3% 78.7%
L.A. Lakers 61.1% 36.3% 24.8%
Cleveland Cavaliers 67.5% 42.8% 30.4%

Seattle SuperSonics 89.6% 82.1% 71.2%
